DALLAS – (WBAP/KLIF) – North Texas is experiencing scattered snow showers and light winds with wind chill factors below zero farenheit this morning. Driving conditions are reported as varying, with patches of ice reported on some surface streets, but treated highway areas reported in overall good condition.

While 95 million Americans are reported to be suffering this morning from winter storms, winter precipitation or lessened travel conditions, North Texas is escaping much of the problem, aside from seeing patches of lake effect snow from the system moving south across Lake Ray Hubbard.

A hard freeze warning remains in effect through at least 10 am this morning, though conditions are not expected to rise above freezing temperatures until at least Wednesday. The cold temperatures are life threatening to people and animals outdoors without proper warmth or shelter. Damage to plumbing remains possible if pipes are not properly drained or insulated. Frost and freeze conditions will kill sensitive vegetation.

Winter precipitation in the form of snow is expected to continue through at least parts of the morning hours.
