Marissa Botello Valadez Murder Trial: Boyfriend Charles Beltran Takes the Stand

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Testimony continues in the murder trial of Lisa Dykes as prosecutors continue to build their case that she murdered 23-year-old Seattle woman in a jealous rage.

Marisela Botello Valadez was last seen in Deep Ellum in October 2020 and her body was found in Wilmer five months later.

Prosecutors argue Dykes fatally stabbed Valadez after finding her in bed with her boyfriend rapper Carlos Beltran.

Beltran testified on Friday, he told jurors that he and Dykes, his boss’ mother, had a sexual relationship despite the fact that she was married to Nina Marano. He testified Dykes began showering him with gifts.

“She was telling me about how she was going to get this huge bonus check and that she was going to by me a car,” said Beltran.

Beltran said that eventually his relationship expanded to Dykes wife, Nina. However, he claimed Dykes became jealous amid the threesome relationship.

Prosecutor: “How did she react to learning that you and Nina slept together?’

Beltran: “She got mad.”

Prosecutor: “How did she react?”

Beltran: “She got pissed and told me not to talk to Nina no more.”

He also told jurors that he took Valadez back to his home after meeting her at a Deep Ellum club. Beltran claims he fell asleep and was shocked awake by screams and saw Dykes over Valadez stabbing her with a knife.

Beltran testified that when he realized what transpired, he told Dykes to handle it and left.

During the investigation, Dykes and Beltran were arrested in Florida. Beltran was taken into custody in Utah.

All three are charged in Valadez’ murder.

The state is expected to wrap its case on Monday.
