DALLAS – (WBAP/KLIF) – A Dallas firefighter on the job since 2012 has been seriously injured in a crash involving a suspected inebriated driver. Dallas Police say Kenneth Burke was riding his motorcycle early Sunday morning when he was struck and run over by 51 year old Crescencio Del Rio Rodriguez on Columbia Avenue.
Burke’s older brother is reported as saying his brother is so seriously injured, doctors have induced a coma. Burke is suffering from many injuries to his head, spleen, pancreas and liver, and endured two surgeries so far.
Dallas Police say Rodriguez failed field sobriety tests with a breathalyzer reading of 0.168, and was arrested at the scene.
Burke is hospitalized at Baylor University Medical Center.
