(WBAP/KLIF) — Some North Texans are feeling the stress of buying gifts, decorations and other holiday goods, which is putting a strain on holiday cheer and their pocket books.
Over half of holiday shoppers expect to feel financially burdened this year, prompting them to search for deals. The National Retail Federation projects the average American will spend $875 during the holiday season, which Bankrate Industry Analyst Ted Rossman says will prompt retailers to cater to shoppers. Rossman says a recent survey showed that 53% of holiday shoppers plan to pay for at least some of their holiday purchases with a credit card. In light of inflation, he provides some tips to help with budget-friendly holiday shopping, such as bundle discounts, using a rewards credit card, making a list and sticking to a budget, as well limiting your gift-giving circle to immediate family.
Shoppers can also avoid shipping charges by combining purchases or taking advantage of free shipping day on December 14th.
