GRANBURY (WBAP/KLIF News ) – On the eve of election day, authorities arrested a candidate for Granbury’s City Council this week on two felony charges of child pornography on Monday.
44-year-old Brad Benson, the Deputy Fire Marshal, longtime member of the Granbury Volunteer Fire Department, and small business owner, is a candidate for Place 4 in today’s election.
He was running against Gary “Skip” Overdier and Charles Beard.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the Republican Party of Hood County said in part: “Based on the limited information available, it is our understanding that a serious sex related offense may be involved. If these allegations are true, there’s no such way the party could every condone such activity,” said the statement.
