Fox Radio News (WBAP/KLIF) – Americans heard from eight Republican presidential hopefuls last night (Wednesday) on key 2024 issues during the first G-O-P primary debate hosted by Fox News.

Participants included, former VP Mike Pence, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former SC Gov. Nikki Haley, former NJ Gov. Chris Christie, SC Senator Tim Scott, ND Gov. Doug Burgum, businessman, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson and political newcomer Vivek Ramaswamy.

Fox4/Yakima writes, “The candidates traded barbs and one-liners in a high-stakes contest at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Each of the candidates touched on some of the nation’s hot-button issues, including crime, abortion and climate change. Interruptions were widespread. Many candidates talked over their peers, at times making it difficult to hear what was said. But the issues at the U.S.-Mexico border brought out some of the strongest rhetoric of the evening.”

In a post at FoxNews.com conservatives took to social media on Wednesday night in droves to opine on who they believed won the first GOP primary debate and who struggled to establish themselves.

Following the conclusion of the Fox News Debate, conservatives on social media weighed in on who they thought won the debate with some praising entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, others supporting former Ambassador Nikki Haley, and many throwing their support behind Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

“@NikkiHaley is the debate winner tonight,“political commentator Meghan McCain posted on social media. “Well done.”

Former President Donald Trump opted to skip the debate, citing his commanding lead in the primary polls. Instead, he posted an interview on the social media platform X. Most of the candidates said they would support the former president as the nominee even if he was convicted in one of the indictments he faces.

The 46-minute conversation attracted millions of viewers who watched – or at least scrolled by – a rival interview on ‘X,’ according to Reuters. It is unclear, however, how long visitors to the site watched the pre-recorded event as view counts for the platform include anyone who simply scrolled past the video or even if only for a few seconds watched the video.
