DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Former Fort Worth Police Officer Aaron Dean was sentenced to just under 12 years in prison on Tuesday in the 2019 killing of Atatiana Jefferson.
Dean was convicted of manslaughter last week. Dean shot Jefferson through a bedroom window while responding to an open door call.
“The verdict reads, we the jury having found the defendant Aaron York Dean guilty beyonf reaonable doubt of the offense of manslaughter assess his punishmet at confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justuice 11 years, ten months, 12 days,” said Judge George Gallagher. “They do not assess a fine.”
Dean faced 2 to 20 years in prison with the possibility of probation. The jury deliberated the punishment for nearly 10 hours.
