FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Two North Texans are sharing an extraordinary encounter at Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth that lead to the reunion of long, lost siblings.
The hospital’s recording producer Raymond Turner and Christina Sadberry had been passing each other in the hallways for seven years.
Turner said this amazing story started when he wanted to find out what part of Africa he was from.
His “23 and Me” DNA test revealed he had a half sister, a person he would soon learn had been much closer than he’d realized.
“I never thought I would be sitting there saying ‘Okay, I have a sister,” said Turner.
Turns out, Sadberry had also been searching for her family. She responded to Turner’s message on the “23 and Me” app. That’s when things took an unbelievable turn.
Turner said he and Sadberry exchanged messages. He learned that she was not only in the Metroplex but had just been walking the halls of his place of work.
“They had just left Cook Children’s I believe about an hour before that she got the Facebook message and she had actually walked by the studio and saw me sitting here,” said Turner.
Sadberry said the revelation hit her like a ton of bricks. “I was like wait what…and I think that’s when the chills started, the shakes started, the tears started,” she said.
The two met on the hospital grounds earlier this year and decided to share their heartwarming story with the community.
The siblings said this once-in-a-lifetime moment was worth the wait.
“We kind of looked at each other and she said ‘Can I hug you again?’ and then we hugged again and she said ‘This feels like home’,” said Turner.
The two said they plan on making up for time Turner said was not lost but done in preparation for this next chapter of their lives.
