Wildfire Update: Over 7,700 Acres Torched Across Texas

All of North Texas remains under a Red Flag Warning issued by the The National Weather Service on Tuesday, as wildfires burn across the region.

A large wildfire has burned hundreds of acres near Possum Kingdom Lake in Palo Pinto County as crews continue to work on extinguishing it.

Adam Turner with the Texas A&M Forest Service says crews worked to burn off fire fuels in the area and create a perimeter around the fire and other structures

In Somervell County, the Chalk Mountain Fire, southwest of Fort Worth has spread to over 6,000 acres since Monday just east of Glen Rose. On Wednesday the fire had spread north of CR205 … at least 12 structures have been lost. The fire is 10% contained.
The Red Cross has opened an overnight shelter at the Somervell County Expo Center for those impacted by the fire.


The King Creek Fire in Kaufman County has torched over 450 acres between Kemp and Rosser… and was 85% contained by Tuesday afternoon.


Crews battled a grass fire in Parker County on Wednesday afternoon between Weatherford and Springtown. It happened near FM 51 and Veal Station Road, about 30 miles northwest of Fort Worth. About 40 acres had burned as of late Wednesday afternoon.
