Washington (WBAP/KLIF) – The government’s Naming Commission has released its official recommendation for the renaming of Fort Hood. Currently, Fort Hood is named after a Confederate general. It is one of nine similarly named military installations that Congress wants renamed by 2023. The Naming Commission has decided Fort Hood’s name should be changed to Fort Cavazos to honor Richard E. Cavazos, the first Latino to become a four-star general in the army. The final decision is up to Congress.
