Bulletproof Vest May Have Saved Officer’s Life

(WBAP/KLIF) — Officials say a Houston police officer has been shot and wounded while conducting a traffic stop as part of a drug investigation.

Two police officers were participating in a multi-agency drug sting, Wednesday, when they pulled over a truck at in Southeast Houston. Police Chief Troy Finner says when the unidentified driver was asked to exit the vehicle, he began shooting at the officers. One officer was wounded in his pelvic area, while the other was hit in the chest, but saved by his bulletproof vest.

The suspect was hospitalized in critical condition and had a warrant out for his arrest.
