DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) Dallas based Southwest Airlines is telling unvaccinated employees that they can continue to work after the deadline for federal contractors passes.
The vaccine requirement calls on all Federal contractors to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by December 8. Southwest Airlines initially indicated it would put any employee who doesn’t meet that deadline on unpaid leave. But in a recent memo, the company announced it had changed its plan.
“If an accommodation has not been reviewed or approved by December 8, the Employee will continue to work, while following all COVID mask and distancing guidelines applicable to their position, until the accommodation has been processed,” said SWA Spokesperson, Chris Mainz. “While we intend to grant all valid requests for medical and/or religious accommodations, in the event a request is not granted, the Company will provide adequate time for an Employee to become fully vaccinated while continuing to work and adhering to safety protocols.”
Demonstrations against vaccine mandates were held Monday outside the Southwest Airlines headquarters.
