Dallas Radio Icon Ron Chapman Dies at 85

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Longtime DFW Radio personality Ron Chapman has died at the age of 85.

News of Chapman’s death was posted on Facebook by the Texas Radio Hall of Fame on Monday morning. The radio industry took to social media to reflect on Chapman’s life and career.

 

Chapman moved to Texas from the northeast in the late 1950’s before taking a job on KLIF Radio. While at KLIF, he served as the on-air persona “Irving Harrigan.” He later worked as morning Disc Jockey on KVIL-FM where became a staple in North Texas talk radio. He ended his career as a DJ for KLUV-FM.

Chapman’s family is thanking North Texans for their thoughts and prayers. A public gathering of friends and colleagues is being planned.
