(WBAP/KLIF) — Several residents of DFW area apartment complexes are still without safe drinking water. The problem, caused by unprecedented winter storms that swept through Texas last week, is the result of a shortage of supplies and manpower.
Plumbing supplies used to repair broken pipes has become increasingly scarce, as well as a lack of plumbers to handle the case load.
Residents of the Addison park apartments in Arlington are having to get clean water for drinking, bathing, and cooking from an outdoor fire hydrant. A water faucet has been attached to the hydrant to allow tenants to fill jugs, pitchers, or whatever they can to carry the water.
The apartment complex managers are working to fix the issue, which has gone on for over a week. Other businesses in the Metroplex are also awaiting repairs and are suffering the same problem of not having clean water.
