Google Experienced Worldwide Outage, Including Gmail, Google Classroom and YouTube

NEW YORK (AP) – Google was hit with a massive outage Monday morning that left Gmail, YouTube and Google Classroom members, and its other services unable to access their accounts.

Thousands of complaints started emerging around 7 a.m. EST.

Users attempting to log in to their accounts received error messages that stated “Something Went Wrong.”

According to the outage monitoring website DownDetector.com, more than 12,000 YouTube users experienced problems worldwide including in the United States.

The outage through a hitch in classrooms this morning due to issues with Google Classroom. It’s a service that’s been widely used as the COVID-19 pandemic forced many districts and universities to conduct classes virtually.

As of 9:50 a.m. CST, much of the services have been restored for some users. The company said it is working to fix the problem.

Some social media users had fun with the outage.
