(WBAP/KLIF) — For the third consecutive week gas prices have dropped in Texas. The statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded is $1.85. AAA Texas reports the price is four cents less than a week ago and 59-cents cheaper than at the same time last year.
El Paso drivers are paying the most at $2.06 a gallon, while those in Sherman-Denison are paying the least at $1.74. Drivers in the Lone Star State are paying some of the cheapest prices at the pump, which rank as second lowest in the nation.
The average price of a gallon of regular unleaded is down four cents from last week to $1.85 in Forth Worth. Daniel Armbruster with AAA Texas says that West Texas intermediate has increased steadily over the past few weeks. The price in Dallas is $1.86 per gallon.
North Texans are saving nearly 60-cents a gallon on gasoline compared to last year. Gas stations in the Metroplex where charging $2.44 for a gallon of regular unleaded in August of 2019. This week motorists are paying $1.85.
