(WBAP/KLIF) — Double shifts pulled by volunteers for Candace Valenzeula’s campaign paid off as the former school board member won the Democratic nomination for the 24th Congressional District Seat.
The former Carrollton-Farmers Branch school board member will now face Republican candidate Beth Van Duyne in the November election.
Valenzuela defeated former Air Force Colonel Kim Olson with around 60% of the vote in Tuesday night’s run-off election. In Dallas county, Valenzuela garnered around 62% of the votes, while in Tarrant county she took about 52%.
Valenzuela will now focus on a campaign this November against Van Duyne, who received an endorsement from President Donald Trump.
