GRANBURY (WBAP/KLIF News ) – A Granbury mother is breathing a sigh of relief today after fire crews saved her two-year-old son who was trapped inside a burning apartment Sunday morning.

Phylicia Keen woke up to the sound of broken glass and smoke hovering inside her unit at the Lakewood Crossing Apartments on Parkwood just before 1 am.

Authorities said she he grabbed her 4-year-old son and ran into the hallway to alert her neighbors but couldn’t get back inside her unit for her other child.

According to a Granbury Volunteer Fire Department Facebook post; 9-1-1 received a call about the fire around 12:50 a.m. and crews were informed that a child was trapped in a second-floor bedroom.

Body camera footage shows the Granbury Volunteer firefighters coming climbing the ladder to the second floor and coming to little Liam Keen’s rescue.

“Go…go…go….We got a two-year-old from the second floor,” said the firefighters.

Liam is recovering at Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth for symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.

He’s expected to be alright.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. All of the family’s belongings were destroyed in the fire.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family recover.
