DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News ) – A 3-alarm fire continued to burn Tuesday morning at a facility just south of Love Field in Dallas.
Firefighters responded to blaze reported near a commercial business complex at 1738 Empire Central near Harry Hines on Monday around 10:30 p.m.
Dallas Fire Rescue said several 911 callers reported what they thought was grass or trees on fire, but when crews arrived they saw multiple pallets burning.
Within an hour of crews arriving on scene, the blaze escalated to a 3-alarm and high winds helped the flames spread to surrounding buildings.
DFR said at the height of the fire, between 60 to 70 firefighters were on hand to put it out.
The fire was eventually contained to an area bordered by Empire Central, Oakbrook Boulevard and Prudential Drive.
The blaze damaged at least six commercial buildings and a transfer station. It also led to some power outages in nearby neighborhoods. The flames and heavy smoke could be seen for miles.
No injuries have been reported so far.
Investigators will look into the cause of the fire once the flames have been extinguished.
