GRAPEVINE (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Investigators are looking into the cause of a massive fire at the Silver Lake Marina on Grapevine Lake on Sunday.

One person was injured and ten boats were damaged around 1 p.m.

Authorities said one individual was on board the vessel when it exploded.

Ella Taylor was enjoying the water with her friend when they saw the first boat catch fire. She told our media partner WFAA TV the flames quickly spread to other vessels.

“It was just more of a pop. That’s when we initially got down and turned around and then just one after another and kept going. We were just like ‘it’s going to get all the boats down the line’,” she said.

The incident sent large plumes of smoke and fire over the lake and parts of Tarrant County for hours.

Grapevine Fire Department Chief Darell Brown said at least four boats were completely destroyed and six others sustained damage but the quick work of firefighters prevented the carnage from being even worse.

He said the incident appears to be an accident but they’re looking into whether an electrical problem or some other malfunction sparked the flames.
