A State Appeals Court Denied Attorney General Ken Paxton’s Request to Block the Fair’s Ban on Firearms

(WBAP/KLIF) – Attorney General Paxton sued the State Fair of Texas and the City of Dallas arguing that the gun ban violates state law since Fair Park is owned by the city and therefore government property. However, city and fair officials argued that the ban was within their rights because the land is leased by the State Fair of Texas, which is a private non-profit hosting a private ticketed event.

Last week, a district judge in Dallas sided with fair and city officials allowing the gun ban to remain in effect. Paxton then appealed that ruling, and an appeals court denied it. The Attorney General then announced that he would ask the Texas Supreme Court to overturn the ban.
