(WBAP/KLIF) – AUSTIN, TX – A citizen-led group in Dallas petitioned to add three amendments to the November ballot. The first one requires Dallas to increase police pay and hire more officers. The second puts the Dallas city manager on a performance-based pay, and the third one allows citizens to sue Dallas city officials if they break the law.
However, Dallas City Council members called the proposals fiscally irresponsible, and added their own three amendments clarifying that the council has final say on how to allocate city money. After the citizen led group sued the city, the court ordered the city to remove their amendments, and allowed the citizen led proposals to stay on the ballot.
