A New Report Reveals a Home Shortage in Texas

(WBAP/KLIF) – While Texas is building plenty of new homes, it’s still not enough to keep up with the growing population. A new report from the Texas comptroller’s office says that the state was 306-thousand homes short of demand in 2023. The report also stated that there’s a lack of supply of affordable housing for middle and low income earners. According to the Texas A&M Real Estate Research Center, the median price of a home in DFW rose 44% between 2019 and 2023. Currently the median cost for a home is $400,000.
