(WBAP/KLIF) – A new Texas law restricting social media for children is now in effect, however some portions of the law have been blocked by a judge. A federal judge stated that the portion requiring social media companies to filter content from children’s feeds is against the first amendment and unconstitutional. While that portion of the law was blocked, the judge allowed the requirement for parental consent for their kids to create an account on social media platforms to stand. The law has been challenged by several tech industry groups, and free speech advocates.
