Victim in 1984 Jack County Murder Identified, Police Asking Public For Information to Solve Case

WIZARD WELLS (WBAP/KLIF News ) – There’s been a break in a decades-old cold case out of the North Texas City of Wizard Wells, about 56 miles northwest of Fort Worth.

The Jack County Sheriff’s Office said they’ve identified a woman whose remains were found in a remote area in 1984.

Roberta Mumma was 25 years old at the time of her death.

According to a Texas Department of Public Safety news release, investigators used advanced forensic techniques and DNA analysis to identify her remains.

The Texas Rangers have joined the investigation and said they’re working “to seek justice for Roberta and ensure those responsible for her death are held accountable.” Her last known location before the discovery of her remains was in Tennessee.

“The smallest detail could be crucial in solving this case and bringing closure to Roberta Mumma’s loved ones,” said Texas DPS.
