Mesquite Officer and His Father Arrested in Connection to Wylie Shooting Sparked by Accusations of Stalking and Arson

WYLIE (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Authorities arrested a Mesquite police officer and his father, a Rowlett city marshal, in connection to a violent love triangle in Wylie.

Investigators said 39-year-old Officer Brian Hill improperly used a police data base to gain information about his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend Jason Benjamin, who he accused of stalking.

They said the father Darvin Hill used that information to find Benjamin and fired gunshots into his car around 2 a.m. on June 25 in the 100 block of S. Ballard Avenue.

Wylie police said Darvin Hill fired the shots after officers initially let Benjamin go due to lack of evidence. No one was injured.

According to an affidavit there’s evidence to back up the stalking allegations, Benjamin is accused of slashing Officer Hill’s girlfriend’s tires in Garland and setting Hill’s motorcycle on fire in Dallas.

Officer Hill turned himself into the Wylie Municipal Jail on July 16 after detectives secured two warrants for his arrest.

He’s charged with misuse of official information and giving a false statement. He’s been placed on administrative leave.

Darvin Hill is charged with deadly conduct. Benjamin is charged with stalking and arson.

Mesquite Police addressed the charges against Officer Hill in a statement:

“The Mesquite Police Department was recently made aware of an investigation involving one of our officers by the Wylie Police Department. The Mesquite Police Department is cooperating fully with their investigation and the officer has been placed on administrative leave.”
