Lou Dobbs Dies at 78

(WBAP/KLIF) – A longtime business news anchor who became aligned with former president Donald Trump has died at the age of 78.

A statement on his social media account called him a “fighter till the very end”. Dobbs had a long career in journalism, with more than 20 years on the job at the CNN network, anchoring the show “Moneyline”. Dobbs departeed from CNN to help Rupert Murdoch launch the Fox Business Network.

Dobbs became one of Trump’s top supporters, using his perch to promote anti-immigrant rhetoric and against the “deep state”. Dobbs spent the end of hsi career promoting misinformation and conspiracy theories on behalf of Trump. After the 2020 election, Dobbs used his Fox network perch to promote untrue conspiracy theories the vote had been rigged by companies that changed millions of votes from Trump to current president Joe Biden.

Fox fired Dobbs in early 2021 after the filing of a nearly 3 billion dollar defamation suit filed by the voting machine company Smartmatic, after his consistent allegations it was involved in what Dobbs asserted was a “stolen election”.
