Azle Woman Accused of Stealing Mortuary Van with a Body Inside From JPS in Fort Worth

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News ) – An Azle woman is facing charges for allegedly stealing a mortuary van with a body in the back from John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth Tuesday night.

The mortuary employee parked the van in the ambulance bay at the hospital just after 7 p.m. and went inside to retrieve a body.

Fort Worth police said surveillance video shows 35-year-old Valerie Traglor-Ellis take off in the van, which was subsequently ditched about two miles from the hospital at the Fort Worth Zoo.

Officers found her a short time later and arrested her. Traglor-Ellis is charged with auto theft and abuse of a corpse.
