DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The Dallas Police Department is investigating what sparked a shooting in Deep Ellum over the weekend that left four people injured, including a 17-year-old boy who is hospitalized in critical condition.
Three other victims, ages 26,28 and 35, were hospitalized in stable condition. The shooting happened just before 3 a.m. at the intersection of Elm and North Crowdus Streets.
The incident has business owners on edge and has renewed calls for increased security in the popular entertainment district.
“24 Hour Dallas” project manager Bryan Tony said the nonprofit educates and pushes for highly-trained security both in and outside establishments to prevent this type of unnecessary violence.
“You never know when things can take a turn. So,. if we’re being proactive…if we’re communicating with one another and building a community of safety for everyone at night then we’ll all be better off,” he said.
The latest shooting happened not far from where two people were fatally shot at the Bitter End bar in March 2023.
Dallas Police said Sunday’s shooting was sparked by an argument between two groups. Investigators do not believe the incident was random.
So far, no suspect identities or arrests have been announced.
