(WBAP/KLIF) – The Better Business Bureau is issuing several warnings ahead of potential scammers following the weekend’s deadly tornado outbreak.

The bureau has released an extensive to-do list that includes how to avoid being scammed in the aftermath of any natural disaster including tornadoes.

Officials say to research your options, ask for references, and ask for multiple quotes.

Once an estimate is received, always get it in writing before signing off on it.

Before going into business with a contractor making repairs, verify the license and insurance with the company doing the work.

Also, see if a payment schedule will work if necessary, confirm everything, and keep your contract.

At least seven people were killed after deadly tornadoes hit North Texas Saturday night. Over 100 were injured.
