DISD Is Cutting Hundreds of Jobs

DALLAS, TX – (WBAP/KLIF) – The largest school district in North Texas just passed its budget for next year, and it’s cutting hundreds of jobs.

On Thursday night, the Dallas ISD school board approved a nearly $2 billion budget that cuts more than 800 jobs on school campuses, and at the district’s headquarters. However, the budget also included some raises as well. The minimum teacher salary will increase a thousand dollars from $61,000 to $62,000 a year. Dallas ISD will also be raising the minimum wage for workers, and adding 70 positions to the district police force.

The district stated that the new budget is the result of both declining enrollment, and a deficit in funding from the state.
