(WBAP/KLIF) – FT. WORTH, TX – Last night, the Tarrant appraisal district held a special meeting to address security measures following a ransomware attack. The board voted to use general funds to hire a cyber security consultant and spent $230,000 for new network equipment.
A hacking group called Medusa is responsible for the attack and for posting the personal information of 300 people on the dark web. The Tarrant Appraisal District stated that they have contacted the 300 people whose information was posted and are already working with experts to keep an eye on the attack, and if any more information gets leaked. They also added that while the new T.A.D. website is safe and secure from hackers, they are advising home owners to change all of their passwords.
