FORT WORTH – The pilot’s union for Fort Worth-based American Airlines reports what it calls “a significant spike” in safety and maintenance issues.
A spokesman with the Allied Pilots Association report fewer routine plane inspections and shorter flights for testing after major maintenance work. The union says American has increased time between routine inspections, and ended maintenance checks done overnight in many cases.
On the flip side, the APA reports being encouraged by American’s response to it’s concerns on the matters. APA is asking it’s members to report maintenance problems or safety issues.
