FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Fort Worth police released new information about five suspects involved in a shooting that left a man injured in the West Seventh entertainment district on March 17.
They’re looking for three men and two women in connection with the shooting that occurred at the intersection of Bledsoe and Currie streets around 1 a.m.
Investigators said the violent encounter was sparked by an argument and physical fight between the victim and five suspects.
In a social media post, the department revealed what sparked the shooting.
“The shooting was proceeded by an argument and physical fight between the victim and 5 unknown suspects,” said the statement. “At this time, Detectives believe that the members of the 5-person group are responsible for the shooting.”
During a press conference about a fatal shooting that occurred weeks earlier, Sergeant Jason Spencer said these types of events impact more than just those directly involved.
“Those who were down there that night also were victimized by this incident. People who are just out looking to enjoy an evening with friends and family…and their sense of security is shattered by a violent event,” he said.
The department and city leaders increased police presence in the area and some bars started scanning patrons with metal wands since a recent spate of violence that started when a man fatally shot TCU student Wes Smith outside a West 7th Bar in September 2023.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Fort Worth police at 817-372-3781 or contact Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County anonymously at 817-469-8477.
