A Denton County mom accused of starving her two-year-old son will now have to wait another week to learn if she will regain custody.
Social workers say Joslyn Sanders left Children’s Medical Center in Dallas twice against medical advice back in 2023.
The second time, doctors say her son suffered a head-to-toe rash, swollen hands and feet and the loss of most of his hair, which they say are all symptoms caused by severe malnutrition.
But Sanders says she only objected to the specific antibiotic doctors recommended called Clindamycin because she had read about serious side effects and is also allergic to it herself.
She says she left to get a second opinion.
Her child was taken from her under court order the next day and treated for more than two months.
But a pediatrician who Sanders initially sought care from testified that he also believes the child had low zinc levels and eating issues after breastfeeding ended.
