GARLAND – (WBAP/KLIF) – 23 pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested in connection with a demonstration Thursday morning outside the Garland General Dynamics plant. The protesters say General Dynamics is making bombs and bomb parts that are being used in Gaza by Israel in it’s war with Hamas.
Police spokesman Pedro Barineau says the demonstration was peaceful, though officers arrived to find protesters standing on top of their vehicles, blocking an entrance and exit to the General Dynamics plant, as well as both directions of the street in front of the plant.
Barineau says police on the scene told them they’d be arrested for blocking the right of way if they did not move their vehicles. He says the protesters were invited to move their protest to another location within sight of passing vehicles, but in a position that did not impede traffic. Barineau says they refused.
Barineau says vehicles were also impounded. He says police did not want to make arrests, but had no choice. By Thursday evening, many of the arrested were awaiting arraignment before a judge, to be formally charged.
