DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – An effort by a former Dallas City Council candidate to recall the Dallas Mayor has failed.
The City Secretary said in a statement that the recall effort led by Devante Peters failed to meet the required deadline within 60 days after the City Secretary’s Office receives notice.
Peters had launched the campaign after the former democratic state lawmaker and now-Mayor Eric Johnson switched parties to become a republican.
That move suddenly made Dallas the largest city in the nation with a republican mayor.
Even though the City Council and Mayor’s positions are considered non-partisan, it was something that did not sit well with some voters who supported Johnson.
