Democrats Introduce Bill to Connect Texas to National Grids

TEXAS – (WBAP/KLIF) – Texas Democrats revealed their new plan that would connect the Texas power gird to other states and limit ERCOT’s control over the systems operation.

The bill known as “Connect the Grid Act” would also pay for the construction of new power lines to deliver enough electricity to nine million homes on a hot day. While the bill would allow Texas power producers to sell electricity to out-of-state consumers, it would strip ERCOT of it’s regulatory authority, and subject Texas to federal requirements. The Public Utility Commission which oversees ERCOT stated that it would be premature to comment on pending legislation that could change.
