City of Arlington Shuts Down Park After Coyote Bites Two Kids

ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The City of Arlington is urging residents to be on alert after two children were bitten by a coyote earlier this week.

The Parkway Central Park at 600 Van Buren drive near Lamar Boulevard and Cooper Street is now closed.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the city said the first child was bitten last Saturday but the decision to shut down the park was made after the second kid was bitten on Tuesday by what officials believe is the same coyote.

Arlington Animal Services said it will continue to set traps and patrol the park but workers have not been able to catch the coyote.

The city said it will update residents on the status of the coyote on its social media pages.
