4 Dead Following Police Chase Over Stolen Car From Irving to Dallas

DALLAS COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The Irving Police Department said four people are dead following an overnight officer-involved chase Thursday morning.

Investigators said officers located a stolen car in the 3200 block of North Belt Line Road. As officers initiated a traffic stop, the driver took off.

The driver lost control and fell down from a flyover near I-35 and Woodall Rogers. Everyone in the vehicle died at the scene, according to Irving Police.

A Dallas County sheriff’s deputy as injured when the suspect’s vehicle crashed into a light police and the pole fell on the deputy’s vehicle. The deputy hit the light police and then crashed into a concrete wall but is expected to recover.

Officials said the deputy was trying to get in front of the chase to place spike strips on the road but the crash happened before that could occur.

The identities of the victims have not been released.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said although the main highways are open, drivers can expect delays there for a while.

Irving Police said they’ll give more details later this morning.
