(WBAP/KLIF) – Veteran newsman and broadcaster Charles Osgood has died at the age of 91, at his home in New Jersey. Osgood anchored “CBS Sunday Morning” for 22 years, hosted a long running series “The Osgood File” for more than forty years, and dabbled in voice work in Hollywood. In news segments, Osgood would at times break down a news event in rhymes. He won Emmys and Peabody awards over his career with CBS News, at times, ending a piece by telling his listeners “I’ll see you on the radio”.
Osgood was noted for abbreviated tips for success for fellow writers and newscasters, noting, “Short words, short sentences, short paragraphs…there’s nothing that can’t be improved by making it shorter and better.”
