DALLAS FORT WORTH METROPLEX – (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas Fort Worth Humane Society and Irving Animal Services are calling on the public to help them find permanent homes or temporary fosters for scores of dog, to avoid euthanizing because of severe overcrowding.
To that end, you may see dogs in the care of these facilities up for adoption at several area businesses this weekend, with workers trying to find placement instead of euthanizing the highly-adoptable dogs. They are simply running out of room with an unexpected high number of dogs entering their joint facility in the past two weeks. Though, animal care workers do state pet surrenders and incoming strays continue most of the year to climb to levels requiring they euthanize perfectly adoptable pets, because of housing space limitations.
Saturday, December 9th, Toyota of Irving is sponsoring adoptions for all dogs adopted from noon until 4pm. Beyond Saturday’s event, the DFW Humane Society will run special promotions through the 16th of December. During this time, all pets over a year old will be available for adoption free of charge.
If you cannot adopt, they ask you to consider fostering a pup until it can be adopted, or there’s more room at the shelter the agencies share.
Adoption officials remind us adopting one dog can save the life of two dogs, because adoption will make kennel space available to an incoming dog. For more information visit http://dfwhumane.com and cityofirving.org/3265/Animal-Services
