SAN ANTONIO (WBAP/KLIF) – At least six people are known dead in a killing spree from San Antonio to Austin in a killing spree that also left two law enforcement officers shot.

Bexar County Sheriff’s Department says officers were dispatched to a home in Kirby, on San Antonio’s northeast side, where they found a man and woman killed. They believe the same suspect may have driven to Austin, where a school police officer was shot in the leg. Later, another couple was found killed inside their southside Austin home.

A call for an active burglary brought an Austin police officer to another Austin home, where the officer was shot while engaged in a gunfight with the suspect. A police chase ensued, and the suspect crashed his vehicle. Suspect 34 year old Shane James is charged with capital murder, as area law enforcement tries to establish a timeline and put together evidence.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar says another unsolved double murder in San Antonio may possibly be attributed to the same suspect; investigation underway.
