Lake Worth Police Drug Bust Nets 15 Pounds of Methamphetamine

LAKE WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The Lake Worth Police Department shed light on a massive drug bust that resulted in the seizure of 15 pounds of methamphetamine.

The find is the result of a year-long narcotics investigation conducted by detectives and members of the department’s special operations unit into meth distribution in the Lake Worth area.

Chief J.T. Manoushagian said the bust prevented 6700 grams of the dangerous drug from being sold to the community.

“So it’s quite a bit of street level dosages and certainly possession of that quantity would indicate that the person in possession intended to distribute it,” he said.

48-year-old David Abshire was arrested and charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, a first-degree felony that is punishable by 5 to 99 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Chief Monoushagian said there’s a possibility charges could be adopted federally.

“Lake Worth will never be a safe haven for drug dealers.” said Chief Manoushagian. “We will continue to use all available resources at every level of government to arrest and prosecute suspected drug dealers to the fullest extent of the law.”

Lake Worth Police thanked the Fort Worth Police Department for assisting in the case.
