Red Kettle Campaign Kicks Off in Fort Worth

(WBAP/KLIF) — The Salvation Army kicked off their annual North Texas Red Kettle Campaign with the Fort Worth City Council, Tuesday.

Salvation Army Fort Worth Kickoff on Nov. 28, 2023

Mayor Mattie Parker and council members all made donations to the kettle before Salvation Army Lieutenant Colonel Bob Mockabee made a reference to the Dallas Cowboys game where players have been jumping into the giant red kettle, and most recently pulling out some turkey legs.

Mockabee says they’ve embarked on a mission to make this holiday season special for those less fortunate. He says they’re projecting this year’s fund-raising effort to be very tight, as the economy and inflation has affected so many North Texans.

The Salvation Army operates 21 centers across North Texas. The Red Kettle campaign is the longest running fund-raiser of its kind to raise money to fight poverty, homelessness, and addiction.
