Texas Getting Prepared if China Takes Over Semiconductor-Producing Taiwan

(WBAP/KLIF) — Texas stands ready should China invade Taiwan. The East Asia island country manufactures 60% of the world’s computer chips and 90% of the most advanced ones. However, what happens if China invades Taiwan.

After the technology industry was debilitated during the computer chip shortage amidst the COVID pandemic, business leaders are contemplating the implications of China taking control of Taiwan. University of North Texas business expert Michael Savoie says either way, Texas will benefit as the state is constructing a silicon chip hub in the Sherman, Texas, area, which would supply the U.S. with semiconductors.

The first of four Sherman semiconductor processing facilities is on track to begin operation as early as 2025.
