(WBAP/KLIF) — Zion Carr was just 8-years-old when he watched former Fort Worth Police Officer Aaron Dean shoot his aunt to death in 2019.
Now, the Fort Worth City Council has approved a deal to pay $3.5-million into a trust fund for Zion to be used for college and living expenses. James Smith is the neighbor who called for a welfare check at Jefferson’s home and says other aspects of the lawsuit have yet to be settled.
The multi-million dollar settlement only addresses a portion of the lawsuit, as stated by Atatiana’s neighbor James Smith. Smith is the one who called police for a welfare check the night Jefferson was killed. Other aspects of the lawsuit remain unsettled. WFAA says the money will be used for Zion’s immediate needs and living expenses, as well as a college savings plan.
