Body Confirmed to be Missing Dallas ISD Educator, Cause of Death “Pending”

MESQUITE (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The family of a Dallas ISD educator who vanished in September wants answers after her body was found in a wooded area near I-20 and Lawson Road in Mesquite.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office made the confirmation this week after 24-year-old Jennifer Mendez Olascoaga’s remains were discovered in early October.

She vanished September 27 in Seagoville.

Investigators said the teacher’s assistant was last seen on surveillance footage at a Quick Trip at Highway 175 and Belt Line Road in Dallas.

Mendez Olascoaga made the stop after dropping off a friend at the Creekside Mobile Home Park at Highway 175 near Modene Street in Seagoville.

Her family found her car abandoned in Mesquite the next day on Lawson and Milam Road about 10 minutes away from the mobile home park.

During the search, her cousin Litsy Mendez said finding Jennifer’s abandoned car was ominous.

“It was kind of like a hint like ‘hey, there’s something going on,’ you know…she always makes it home,” she said.

The family filed a missing persons report with the Dallas Police Department and detectives contacted Seagoville Police.

The medical examiner’s office said Mendez Olascoaga’s cause of death is pending but Mesquite police are investigating the case as a homicide.

Her family has set up a GoFundMe to help pay pay for funeral expenses.
