(WBAP/KLIF) — West Fort Worth is getting a state-of-the-art fire station.
The City of Fort Worth broke ground, Thursday, on a $9-million fire station in the Walsh Ranch Neighborhood. Mayor Mattie Parker and the city council are continuing to make good on a promise to improve fire safety with construction soon to begin on a 4-bay, 11,000 square foot facility that will have modern accommodations for firefighters, including a decontamination area to remove the cancer-causing byproducts of smoke.
Fort Worth Fire Chief Jim Davis is grateful for a permanent fire station to replace the department’s temporary structure at Cook Children’s Walsh Ranch. Parker says Station #43 will blend into the community with a new design that has been adopted for all future city fire stations. The second-term mayor is also adding 76 additional firefighters over the next year.
Completion of the 11-thousand square foot facility is expected in December of 2024.
