
TRAVIS COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The son of Buc-ees co-founder Don Wasek is facing dozens of charges for allegedly recording several people using spy camera devices.
Authorities arrested 28-year-old Mitchell Wasek this week after two witnesses contacted the Travis County Sheriff’s Office in May to report the incidents that allegedly occurred at his family’s home on Lake Travis in Spicewood.
According to the arrest affidavit, a woman told investigators she and some friends were visiting the lake house with Mitchell Wasek when a member of the group, who works in cybersecurity for the Department of Defense, discovered that a charging port plugged into the wall of their bathroom contained a hidden camera.
The group of took the camera and found dozens of videos of themselves and others in bathrooms and bedrooms of the lake house as well as Mitchell Wasek’s Dallas apartment dating back to 2021, according to the affidavit.
The evidence was turned over to the Dallas Police Department, who then sent the evidence to the Travis County Sheriff’s Office.
Court records show investigators found 68 video files containing at least 13 men and women filmed in at least eight different rooms, showing the individuals using toilets, showering, changing clothes and/or having sex. The people filmed were unaware that they were being filmed and indicated “they did not consent to being recorded or photographed,” according to the affidavit.
Amid the investigation, detectives obtained Mitchell Wasek’s Amazon purchase history, which included several hidden camera devices sent to various addresses.
He is charged with 28 counts of invasive visual recordings and faces up to two years in prison.
